About
Wellington Brain Injury Association - supporting people in the Wellington community for over 27 years
"Hello,
My name is Cheryl"

"I love working with all the people I meet in this job"
Cheryl - liaison officer
Wellington Brain Injury Association is a branch of the New Zealand Brain Injury Association with a brief to support people in the Wellington region, Kapiti and Wairarapa. Our liaison officer Cheryl runs support groups in Wellington, Lower Hutt, Wairarapa, and Kapiti as well as events for carers.
We provide support on a 'one-to-one' basis or in a group context. Frequently we find ourselves advocating for members to ensure they receive the support they're entitled to. As well as that, we provide evidence-based information on ways to prevent head injury and how to manage it.
From time to time we work in schools and prisons. We run tool-box sessions on construction sites to raise awareness of ways to prevent head injuries. (Big shout out to L T Mcguinness Ltd who partnered with us for the tool box sessions).
Our work is full of challenges and rewards and our members are the best part of it. We never cease to be amazed and encouraged by our work.
